In Europe, Intersolar is known as one of the world's largest solar conferences. The San Francisco arm of the event, held this week alongside Semicon West at the Moscone Center, is expected to draw 12,000 attendees.

Among the companies showing off their equipment is SunCarrier, which said its systems were used in 43 megawatts worth of solar farms in Spain in 2007. From sunrise to sunset, the company's single axis photovoltaic modules, at model size in this image, rotate 220 degrees, from left to right. Double-axis solar tracking systems, by contrast, also tilt up and down, but SunCarrier says its product is more stable in windy conditions.
