Photos: Homecoming for NASA's flying observatory

NASA Ames employees got their first glimpse inside Sofia on Monday, despite having worked on instrumentation for the observatory over the last 12 years. In 1996, Sofia was expected to be stationed at Ames, but it's now housed at NASA Dryden in Southern California. Pictured here inside the cockpit is instrumentation to fly the plane, not operate the telescope.
