M2E Power, based in Idaho, is developing a battery that uses kinetic energy, or motion, to charge itself. Its plans call for making self-charging batteries for the military and then getting into the market for powering consumer electronics. Pictured here is a treadmill test at a biomechanics lab at Boise State University. The test shows how motion can produce enough electricity to power a light (on the walker's waist).
