"Real basic program, has fairly good stock information, just no program options."

    by -111- on March 4, 2007

Pros: You can have numerous charts with history etc. Pretty good stock infomation.

Cons: Always starts when you log-in. No exceptions.

Program options or preferences are almost non-existent, even for a free version, this part is really bad.

You have to accept a third parties offers to skip a repeated msg at start-up for all users.

I like to configure apps to run to what I like, not to what someone else has already decided on, and with this app, you basically have no choices!

    "only half of the universe"

by paultaut on April 24, 2007

    Pros: its free

Cons: unable to use OTC BB or Pink Sheet symbols some of which are priced higher than 99% of all NYSE stocks. Go to BIG Charts instead, U get the entire universe.

"Get more than you pay for, but can you live with the popups?"

by jtretter on April 14, 2008

Pros: Quick basic setups of 12 onscreen Stocks at once (free version). Toolbar view shrinks to top or bottom of screen and the systray icon offers quick view on top left stock when app is minimized. Save multiple worksheets by different file names and open each later to view different Stock sheets (saves *.mbw worksheets to root of My Docs as the default location). Under Favorites dropdown, you can choose a favorite financial instructions from a list of common research websites ? then click your chart, and use the toolbar buttons or the dropdown options and go right to your favorite site (certain sites like Nasdaq.com offer more buttons than others like Google).

I'm more a newbie here but wanted something to track my stocks from the office without taking up lots of system resources or onscreen real-estate. I can get in, get some quick updates, and get out in a few clicks or stay in there for hours.

Previous users? privacy posts concerned me, but may I point out when you purchase software online from a vendor, I cannot think of one company today that does NOT have a similar clause like this. They collect personal information items to complete your PURCHASE transaction in their systems. i.e. - name, age (aka DOB), address, e-mail address, credit-card number??? Sounds like a standard web profile setup and purchase information to me, how about you? If you have a privacy concern, I would suggest you read the short, online agreement the other guy refers to and make your own decision vs. reading his, mine, or anyone else here. Go to marketbrowser.com, scroll to the bottom and click on Privacy Policy.

Free version personal information questions are limited to an email address (why? B/C freeware wants you to buy the licensed version - shocker). If you?re still paranoid, go create free online account.

Bottom line ? you cannot beat the price for what you get and nope, I don?t know any of these guys and did not get paid for the post.

Cons: Expect a popup each time you start the software - I click the obvious "cancel" button and then no more announcements until I restart the next day ? but it's an annoyance, nonetheless. There's a LOT of options in this tool and it can feel a little overwhelming to customize it for a new user. Some more advanced reporting is available but that comes after figuring out the tool. I used this for ~ 6 months and somehow my worksheet became corrupt. I had a backup file and as with any working document (Word, Excel, etc) it?s a good idea to backup the file from time to time (in root of My Docs *.mbw).

After setting up a few quick charts, it's going to take you a while to get a good feel for all the other settings in the various menus.

"Too many options and no Forex"

by gamerboys on December 16, 2007

Cons: This tool shows you too much scattered info without really teaching you what to do with it and without letting you practice anything. They should have added features to let you act on the information like other tools do - etoro, metatrader etc. If you are looking to trade the financial markets then go elsewere.
