It satisfying after all the holier-than-thou attitude that comes from up north, that we finally have a chance to chuckle at this current issue.

So what happens if I show up to a Red Wings game with a Tee-shirt or hat with an offending web URL, and it gets shown on CBC? Are the Mounties going to be waiting for me the next time my family takes a trip to Toronto? Pathetic rule.

We, the Holier-than-though...

There's plenty of controversy here in Canada about the effectiveness of publication bans, rest assured. Of course, we're far too busy being sanctimounious to notice or care what a beer-sloshing trailer park thug in Detroit has plastered across his t-shirt at a hockey game.

Notwithstanding the current NHL strike saving us all from such risk, it was only a week anyway. And the phenomenon of the publication ban's lack of effectiveness will only serve to reinfoce that in the age of the Internet - such things will go the way of church inquisitions, indulgences, etc.

Besides, I don't think Canada can exactly be accused of having a monopoly on or even being a home to "holier-than-thou" attitudes. Many outside the United States think of America long before Canada when such talk starts, thanks to the US President in his so-called effort to "defend freedom" in the world.

And, as a Canadian, I prefer being called inflammatory. ;)

Oops - wished there were an "edit" feature here. I wanted to say "many think of the US before Canada when such talk starts" in the comment above, but now I'll have to live with sounding like that satirical alcoholic Red Wings fan. Oh well....
