"All web-radio and tracks on my micro-system painless"
Pros: * Ease of installation and use
* Great list of internet radio and podcasts
* Great experience with Rhapsody
* AAC & MP3 tracks can escape from my computerCons: * Black and White display
Summary: After 5 minutes spent on installation, I was able to play my favorites internet radio stations without PC !!!
* Set-up of Vista when we don't know how to do
* Rhapsody too expensive
User Interface is intuitive and easy. Display and characters are huge which enhance the readiness. I would have loved to get a color display for this price but when I have compared with the 2 lines of others in the same price range, I will not cry.
I am amazed by the huge list of radio and podcasts available coming from around the world and I am now able to listen on my micro system my favorite French radio with a great sound. No pain anymore to start the PC or to fine-tune the FM antenna. Finding a radio station is very simple on the device and Philips also set-up a web-interface. Apparently, Philips is taking care itself of the sustainability of the web-radio URL which is good when I see how often I have to update the links to my station on the PC.
When I wanted to start playing some songs from my computer directly on my micro system through the NP1100, I spent quite some time to find how to configure Vista ( Go in Control panel / Media sharing center / media sharing sur ON) which is at the end easy ... when you know.
Once done, I was able to play them easily (even the MSFT DRM protected) and no pain anymore to move my computer and the charger next to my micro system.
But in fact, the most amazing thing is clearly the Rhapsody service. A 30 days free trial is provided with the device and it is really a great new experience to find instantly and play on my micro system all music my relatives are talking about.
With the PC Rhapsody player, you can even prepare your playlists very easily then launch them for teh whole evening.
As I am not a real music lover, I don't know if I will subscribe because 12.99USD is quite important but experience is really great
As indicated by Matthew, I have also noticed the slight pause between 2 songs which is annoying when listening an opera but acceptable for standard albums.
In conclusion, I was looking for a reliable device to simplify the way of listening internet radio and my MP3 tracks on my micro system.
NP1100 is the one I have chosen because he was looking simpler than other competitors and coming from a solid brand.
Result is the fact that my laptop doesn't move anymore and I have discovered a great new experience with Rhapsody. So I am quite happy with this investment :-)

Could you confirm that all configuration is lost when power is interrupted ?
How many stations can be stored in the Favorites list ?
Thanks
