"Frustrating"
Pros: New Features Added
Cons: Old Features Removed
Summary: I upgraded from an Audiovox SMT5600 with Windows Mobile 2003 to an HP iPaq 510 with Windows Mobile 6. I had foolishly assumed that all the things I liked about the old version would be included in the new version.
First of all, the "Contacts" softkey was replaced with a "Shortcuts" softkey. I wanted the "Contacts" softkey back. I assumed that there would be some "settings" option to configure that key. Nope. I had to find a Windows Mobile registry editor and mess around with that for a few hours before I could get the "Contacts" button back. What a pain.
When I went to use ActiveSync, I discovered that the ability to determine which contacts are sync'd based on category is gone. I read through some Microsoft forums that said this function was removed in Windows Mobile 6 and the new ActiveSync, but if I wanted to buy a third party application to do the same thing I used to be able to do with Windows Mobile 2003, there are a couple of ones available. Thanks so much.
I think it is ridiculous that Microsoft can not provide a full-featured sync'ing product. It is even more ridiculous, is that what few features ActiveSync has, it is REMOVING features instead of adding new ones! This is why people switch to Apple products.

I could not agree more with MikeLab's review of Windows CE 6.0! How disappointing to see how lazy Microsoft is when developing new software. They must use monkeys for their product feed back instead of humans. How else could they possibly develop new versions that require more key strokes to do the same operation, and much less user friendly? Good example is the Calendar. 3.0 had softkeys on the bottom of the screen that allowed you to switch to weekly, monthly or yearly views. Now you have to go into the menu to select these views. The 3.0 phone had a softkey for the speed dial list. Now you have to go into the menu. MS truly proves that bigger is not necessarily better! Right now the only reason I use it is because BlackBerry is terribly awkward, even worse on the key strokes to enter new data etc. Not to mention, the BlackBerry screens are very booooorrrriiiinnnggg!
I remain hopeful that MS will get its act together and start getting some meaningful user groups and develop software that has some real punch!
