"Stay away from Vista!!!"
Pros: Tries to mimic Mac OS X
Cons: Expensive; buggy; resource hog; Product Activation is a pain; DRM; poor imitation of Mac OS X
Summary: Vista tries to mimic Mac OS X with features like search (Mac's Spotlight) and Sidebar (Mac's Dashboard). Even Aero Glass is a feeble attempt to outdo OS X's GUI interface. But OS X is slicker.
Product Activation is a pain in the ass. Vista's DRM limits you to what you can do with your software and media content.
Windows is expensive. Linux is free or available for a low, low price.
Mac OS X has much better built-in apps such as iLife. Linux has tons of great and free apps built-in! What does Vista offer you?
Vista is "Version 1.0" which means lots of bugs and application compatibility problems.
Vista's much-vaunted security is a joke. Hackers have already found security holes in Vista!
Vista is little more than a glorified Service Pack for XP. If you have Win XP, just stick with it. It's much safer.

Ah, yet another ignorant & arrogant Mac fanboi sprouting all the gibberish propogated by Mac themselves.
First a history lesson....
Apple has 'grabbed' many fine ideas put out by others, only for you fanbois to claim them as Apple-originals. Search feature, dashboard and many other.
Vista was first presented in concept form about 10 mths before OS X was released ...care to guess how many of those novel ideas were rushed into OS X??
As for security, anyone who buys a Mac with the notion that they are more secure need to do their homework. Of all the main OS's, OS X is the biggest sitting duck of them all. While the others have been bombarded, and as a result been improved and strengthed, OS X is yet to really be pushed. On top of that, how many Mac users do you know who use ANY security software. If virus/malware creaters ever turn their sites Mac's way, you're all in for a very unpleasant surprise I promise you.
Look, let's face it - no OS is for everyone. But everytime one of you get on the same old band-wagon, all you do is buy into the hype (largely fanned by Apple of late) all you do is make yourselves look like idiots and widen the divide amongst the users -
I bought a New Dell w/ Vista on it. Vista is BUGGY -- It CRASHES !! All in all -- IT SUCKS !!
Linux Rocks !! -
The one-line summary says it all.
If only "betamax" fans knew that Windows Search has been in early alpha versions of Vista more than a year before Apple's Spotlight. -
Here's a list of problems that I have with Vista (x64).
- Bluetooth doesn't work
- Unable to connect two PCs on my home network, imagine a Mac and PC
- Real Media Player doesn't work
- Adobe Audition or Premiere doesn't work
- Windows Media Center doesn't recognize the remote control (that's ridiculous!)
- scanner from my canon printer doesn't have drivers
- webcam doesn't have drivers
- Installing Divx drivers was a PAIN!!!!
Ultimately... a Headache
